Why Lent?

Here we go
As in the past I'm going to give up all "road noise." No radio, iPod, or cell phone while driving. I'll use that time to connect with God.
I'm also going to give up TV. (It helps that I'm not a big basketball fan!) And I'll have a limit of one movie per week. This will create some options in the evenings to connect with others and listen to what God is doing.
Finally I'm going to memorize one verse each week. A way to reflect throughout Lent on some key, transformative truth.
Sundays are celebration days, so these commitments will get a breather once a week.
I'll keep you posted on how it's going.
What about you? What will you do this Lent to deepen and enrich your journey with Jesus?
Why Lent?
If you grew up NOT observing Lent, I’d like to help you “reinvent Lent.” It can be one of the most life-changing, memorable seasons of the year! It’s a time of the year when we can choose to change some of our daily patterns for the purpose of connecting more powerfully with God’s purposes and plans for our lives.
This year, I’d like to encourage you to consider how you might want to use this season of focusing on God. In particular, is there some change(s) you could make in your daily patterns that would help you connect with God’s purposes and plans not ONLY for your life, but the lives of those around you? Often by omitting something, or adding something to our routines we see our life in a fresh way. We can even see God in a fresh way.
As we step into this practice, we want to share what we're experiencing, how God is working, and what we're learning. Feel free to join in the dialogue.
